Kenya has the largest economy in East Africa and has been growing at around 5-7% annually for the past 20 years, except for 2020 when it was affected by Covid-19, and the government has set a goal of “Vision 2030” to move from a developing country to a middle income country by 2030.
The population ratio has also remained at an astonishing figure.
Total population: 53 million
Juvenile population (0-14 years): 42
Working age population (15-64): 55
Elderly population (65 and over): 3%.
The average life expectancy is only about 64 years for males and 69 years for females due to many medical problems such as infectious diseases and starvation. This overwhelmingly large working-age population will undoubtedly support Kenya’s economy in the future, as life expectancy is likely to continue to rise with the proliferation of vaccines, infectious disease control measures, and investments in education and health care.
Kenya also has a thriving entrepreneurial spirit and is widely recognized as a center for entrepreneurship and innovation in sub-Saharan Africa.
Known as the “Silicon Savannah,” Kenya is a vibrant hub for technology and innovation, particularly in the digital and technology sectors. The capital city of Nairobi, in particular, has one of the most vibrant startup ecosystems in all of Africa, with innovative startups sprouting up in a variety of industries, including technology, agriculture, and even education.
As the largest economy in East Africa, Kenya will continue to be one of Africa’s hubs for the long term, developing its economy and reducing poverty.
