Now that 2023 has started, Kenya can import Japanese cars manufactured by 2016.
And the cheapest tax is a car that has just passed 7 years from manufacture.
As of this writing, it is January. If you order now, it will arrive in Kenya in March or April, so it would be a good idea to look for a used car with a manufacturing date of “2016Year January, February, March, April” now.
And there is one thing to be aware of when purchasing a car from Japan.
Vehicles that have been in production for more than one year from the date of initial registration cannot pass the pre-export inspection. This means that the car cannot be imported into Kenya.
To confirm this, be sure to check the “manufacturing date” when ordering.
You will need the full chassis number for that, so check with the Japanese exporter.
By entering that number into the date of manufacture survey form, you can know the date of manufacture of the car.
If more than a year has passed since the date of manufacture until the first year of registration, please stop buying the car.
